It's a bit rainy here today in Austin, for which I am grateful because we are in a drought. But I do think that a bit of color would help end the day on a high note, so I chose my "Rock Candy Mountain" goose egg for the Friday Egg today, featuring multi-colored stylized mountains, reminiscent of an agate stone.
Hope you enjoy it!

Katy, I love your eggs!!! Could you give me some pointers on how to approach an egg like this? I'm experienced with traditional pysanky but have never tried anything like this. THANKS!
It has been ages since I have done a tutorial post - this might be a good candidate! I started with the white egg and just drew a meandering line around the middle and then another one that was next to it but not the exact same. I filled that in with wax. I did it again closer to the top and then another on the bottom part. Then I dyed the egg yellow and did the same in between the three lines of white. After that I just dyed the egg a good color and waxed wavy lines. The only rule was that I had to do them in order. If you look, underneath the white line the colors are always in order of green, red, blue, then purple. That way there is some sort of organization that I think helps with this sort of abstract design. There always has to be some sort of organization for your eye to land on.
Thanks for asking! If you want to see more of my recent work, go to http://katydavidart.blogspot.com/ where I am currently posting.
